Rare silk memorial honoring Lieut. P.J. Gavan, Co.B, 19th Georgia Volunteers. The memorial is pasted on a thick piece of board that was once mounted in a deep well type frame. Gavan was killed on May 3, 1863 from a gunshot to the head while leading a charge near Kelly's Ford, Virginia. The tribute is very touching.
