WHAT A PIECE FOR THE GETTYSBURG COLLECTOR! THIS FRAMED RELIC BOARD WAS MADE IN 1913 IN HONOR OF THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE ~ FRAME MEASURES 16" X 19" ~ SEVERAL ITEMS WITH INKED DESCRIPTIONS INCLUDING WHERE ITEMS WERE FOUND AND BY WHOM
INCLUDES:
TINTYPE AND IS INKED "T.S. ROWE"
-ROWE IS SEEN SEATED WITH SERGEANT STRIPES (5-1-63)

THE PIECE OF STONE AT TOP CENTERING THE BADGES HAS THE FOLLOWING INSCRIPTION
"FROM STONE WALL AT CEMETERY RIDGE DEFENDED IN PART BY TAMMANY REGT 42ND V.Y.V."
SPOON WITH FOLLOWING INK "DEC 1862 FREDERICKSBURG VA."
WHEAT AT BOTTOM CORNERS WITH INK "GETTYSBURG WHEATFIELD 1913"
1863 COIN AND 1913 PENNY
INKED 2ND CORPS AT RIGHT BOTTOM
SEVERAL PIECES AT CENTER WHICH ARE DESCRIBED AT BOTTOM..IT READS...
THESE RELICS WERE FOUND ON THE BATTLEFIELD OF GETTYSBURG A FEW DAYS AFTER THE BATTLE, BY MY UNCLE JOHN J. BLACK, THEN A BOY LIVING FOUR MILES FROM GETTYSBURG.
THE PAPER CARTRIDGE CONTAINS A "MINNIE" BALL AND A CHARGE OF BLACK POWDER. THE BRASS HOOKS AND BUTTONS ARE FROM THE SLING STRAPS OF A KNAPSACK AND A HAVERSACK. THE MINNIE BALLS WITH GROOVES ARE "UNION" AND THE ONE WITHOUT GROOVES IS "CONFEDERATE". THE SMALL CAST IRON BULLET IS FROM A SHRAPNELL SHELL USED BY FIELD ARTILLERY.
