SIR, I ARRIVED HERE THIS A.M. IN COMPANY WITH TWO CITIZENS. JOEL BLAKESLEY AND MR. ANDREWS FROM ELMWOOD, ILLINOIS. SAID MEN ARE GOIING TO ASSIST THE SOLDIERS AS NURSES AND WISH TO GO UP THE TENNESSEE RIVER.

Isaac Ewalt Hurff followed his step-brothers Daniel and Thomas Hurff from New Jersey to Elmwood, Illinois, and they became prosperous farmers there. Daniel Hurff's house is now the Maple Lane Country Club (a private 9-hole course).
