....HERO OF MOBILE BAY ON JOB HERE AT 81; H.J. Kearney Spikes Legend Farragut Was Lashed to Mast During Battle. JOINED NAVY AT TWELVE G.A.R. Executive, One of Five Left in Post, Works Six Hours a Day in Office at City Hall.

Henry J. Kearney, "powder monkey" aboard Admiral Farragut's flagship, the Hartford, at the battle of Mobile Bay, and commander of Farragut Naval Post here, will celebrate his eighty-first birthday today.

HE WAS GAR JUNIOR VICE COMMANDER IN CHIEF FOR THE YEAR 1928.

KEARNEY WAS ALSO THE NEW YORK DEPARTMENT COMMANDER IN 1932 (he died in office).
